American-Palestinian Teenager Released After 270 Days in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American youth who spent a nine-month period in Israeli detention absent formal charges was released.
The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.
The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.
Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.
They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues acquired while detained.
Through an official statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".
Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"Right now, our priority is providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires after being subjected to harsh conditions and cruel circumstances for months."
The state department stated they would maintain to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.
{"American leadership has no higher priority to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.
A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to the state department and President Donald Trump, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.
The father, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, had earlier stated his son only confessed about rock throwing due to physical abuse.
He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since February, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.
He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.
It is also home to grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities including killings.
There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.
Many have never been charged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, report instances of abuse and torture.
Subsequent to his liberation, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.
This young American-Palestinian per medical officials was beaten to death by settlement residents during a confrontation in July.
Initially, the Israeli military said they were examining information regarding a civilian had been killed.
Mohammed and Sayfollah collaborated in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.
No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.
"We demand the American government to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
