As Thanksgiving approaches, the lineup of balloons for the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been revealed. Fans of the animated hit KPop Demon Hunters have something exciting to look forward to, as beloved characters Sussie and Derpy Tiger are scheduled to make an appearance as spectacular floats.
The parade is held each year in the heart of New York, showcasing an impressive variety of balloons from different corners of pop culture. Past participants have included characters ranging from SpongeBob SquarePants and Scooby-Doo to anime favorites like Dragon Ball and One Piece.
Meet the Mascots: Sussie and Derpy Tiger
Derpy Tiger and Sussie are featured in the hit animated show KPop Demon Hunters. In the story, Huntr/x is a K-pop girl group by day and a squad of supernatural hunters by night, harnessing their musical power to repair the Honmoon and protect the human world from demonic threats. Much like Huntr/x and the Saja Boys, these mascots have won the hearts of fans worldwide and are expected to be a memorable highlight for families and fans alike during the parade.
An Incredible Year for KPop Demon Hunters
One could easily claim that 2025 has been the year of KPop Demon Hunters. This animated feature from Sony has soared to the top as the top-viewed movie on the streaming platform, earned 5 Grammy nominations, and the vocal talents behind Huntr/x—Rumi, Mira, and Zoey's voice actors—gave a live performance on a major late-night show, delivering a stunning Honmoon-worthy act.
Adding to the excitement, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are also scheduled to make an appearance during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Viewers can look forward to a potentially "Golden" performance from the group.
What's Next for the Franchise?
An upcoming sequel, KPop Demon Hunters 2, is said to be in the works, with a potential release in 2029. Although fans will have to be patient, the immense popularity for the original film suggests that fans will gladly wait for a sequel that lives up to the first installment. For now, everyone can look forward to the amazing Derpy and Sussie balloons at the upcoming Thanksgiving parade.
